Emma and Neil

DIY Barn Wedding
Cornwall Wedding Photography

Cornwall DIY wedding are amongst my favourite to photograph. They tend to be very creative and decorated with a personal touch to reflect the couples. Emma and Neils wedding was no exception. Both very hard, working owning and operating a haulage company and with a love of trucks, this theme was recreated throughout their day.

The wedding ceremony took place at Illogon Church in Cornwall and apart from some quick photos at North Cliffs, the rest of the wedding took place at the couples home at Carn Brea.

The day started off early with Emma and her brides maids in her house.

Once the bride and bridesmaids were ready (fashionably late as expected), it was off to find the the groom and his groomsmen. My first guess was the pub opposite the church and I was in luck.

This part of the day was kept a secret from everyone as a surprise to Neil. Emma had arranged for Neils entire fleet of trucks to drive by the church once the service had finished. It was such a momentous occasion that it made the local news and caused quite some excitement to the locals. Neil found the surprise very emotional.

Emma and Neil left together in one of their trucks that had been decorated for the occasion. It was then a quick drive to North Cliffs for a short photoshoot. The entire feet of trucks decided to convoy their way with us down the small windy Cornish roads. It was quite a sight to see!

It was then back to Emma and Neils home back at Carn Brea. They had converted one of their large barns with an eating area, dance floor and bar. I came down a week prior to the farm to see the progress and it was still just a barn at that stage. I couldn’t believe the effort that had gone into making it the stunning venue they had on the day.

It was one of the most creative weddings I have seen and an absolute pleasure to be a part of. Emma and Neil, as well as their frends and family, worked incredibly hard into the lead up to the wedding to make it the fantastic day it was. I wish them both many happy years together!
