Chypraze Barn is the ideal venue to be a Cornwall wedding photographer. Located in the very far west of Cornwall, Chypraze offers a rustic style barn to get married as well as a private beach which makes it perfect for wedding photographs on those beautiful summer sunsets.
Beth and Tom live in London but decided to tie the knot down in Cornwall. A few months prior to their special day, I met up with them near St Michaels Mount for an engagement shoot and it was back on that beach where I met up with Tom and his friends for an early morning dip in the sea on the morning of his wedding.
Although a sunny day, the sea in Cornwall is never the warmest so it was quite brave of the men to have a swim. I left the men to dry off and I went to see Beth and her ladies while they were getting ready. It was a very relaxed morning and the girls were in high spirits.
I arrived at Chypraze Barn to catch up with Tom, who was now dry and dressed, and was able to take some photographs of the ceremony room itself as well as guests arriving. Due to Beths heritage, after the vows were exchanged and the register signed, a Chinese tea ceremony took place. This is where Beth and Tom’s family would come up to the front, and one by one, the couple would offer them tea in exchange for lucky red envelopes known as ‘li shi’. It was beautiful to see elements of a Chinese wedding during the day.
After the tea ceremony we went outside to enjoy the Cornwall sun and this gave us time for some group photography. The meal had traditional Chinese elements too in which Tom and Beth would go to each table and cheers their guests in Chinese, ‘Gan Bei!’. The meal was provided by Chypraze Farm free range meat.
After the meal and speeches, the couple and most of the guests made their way down to the private beach. The sunset couldn’t have been more perfect which made a breathtaking backdrop for couple photography. I jokingly said to Beth and Tom ‘shall we have a dip in the sea?’ and without hesitation, their shoes came off and they were in the sea.
Back up to the barn, we had time for some sparklers before it was the first dance. The party continued into the night and I left after getting some great shots of the action. It really was the perfect wedding day with such a beautiful couple.
